I recently moved from New York City to New Jersey, and while I do have a lot more room, my rental home’s kitchen leaves something to be desired. Namely, storage and counter space.
So I looked online for open storage ideas for my most-used cookware and small appliances, and I found the perfect solution in the $80 AmazonBasics Kitchen Storage Cabinet.
The price was right, the customer reviews were overwhelmingly positive, and the assembly took maybe 30 minutes and required no tools or help from a second person. It’s also sturdy and holds a lot of stuff — Amazon says it has a weight capacity of 270 pounds, but I haven’t tested the limits of that claim.
I like how simple the design is too; it’s a blank slate you can organize however you like, and it should mesh well with most existing decor styles.

As you can see in my photos, the unit has three full shelves, one half shelf, and a hanging bar with hooks for pots and pans.
I love how the removable wood top looks and wish Amazon gave the option to purchase additional wood tops for the other shelves. That’s my only real gripe with the cabinet. Amazon, please consider offering this!
If you’re looking for open storage for your kitchen, and you don’t want to spend a lot of money on something, this is a solid option that a lot of people really like, including me.
